AGRISCIENCE & NATURAL RESOURCES
Students learn “hands-on” many of the skills associated with agriculture in the classroom, the barn and fields and at the nearby land lab. The program studies modern soil, crop and plant science, animal science, veterinary science, irrigation, how to manage and conserve natural resources and the use of alternative energy sources. Students learn to raise market-ready livestock and have the opportunity to compete at the St. Joseph County Grange Fair. Operating different types of farm equipment and machinery is part of the curriculum.
Things students will learn include:
- animal anatomy
- animal reproduction
- animal welfare and safety
- farm equipment safety
- farm fabrication & mechanics
- plant anatomy and nutrition.
Articulated college credit is available through Michigan State University.
